They are already training on the fediverse. If something is on the public web, you can assume it’s in some training data somewhere
If you’re here, there’s still hope for the internet
Don’t let it fall

Wait first I’m hearing of this one. What happened now?
Running an index is quite a massive endeavor at the scale of Google. They’re a small team.
I think it makes sense considering there’s a competitive market of indexes already. They make small ones to cover some niches and use existing ones for the rest.
Keep in mind they also add their own reranking and stuff on top of Bing Google whatever
Kagi has multiple indexes of their own
And the AI stuff is all opt on from what I can tell. I’ve never gotten any AI thing except when I asked for it
Unfortunately you’re not out of the weeds yet. Lemmy has plenty of hive mind mentality
Sure, moderating and creating places like the fediverse are good and useful. But 99% of the time people spend on the fediverse isn’t doing that
I feel like this article misses the essence of the original. It’s a strawman. Yes, being on the fediverse is better than being on twitter/facebook whatever corpo media. But it is equally susceptible to just endless scrolling without any action
Many Twitter refugees made a good choice in migrating from Musk’s X to Bluesky, carving out a new online space that is inhospitable to bigoted debate bros and time-wasting trolls. But in their enemies’ absence, many of these Left-leaning posters have just reverted to dunking on each other, preferring the catharsis of sectarian conflict over the hard work of organizing.
Yeah I’ve tried bluesky, this is entirely accurate. 90% of US political content on bluesky is basically a combination of r/whitepeopletwitter and r/clevercomebacks. Same people too, that reddit loves
It’s a very different style. I couldn’t slog through it
Is this the first page people see? If so you should probably have a blurb before the background
Are the white ones actually better though?
Oh much simpler, I just make a post with my blog as a link, and supply that link to my site and it shows the comments from that link. As I said, not actually federated. It’s basically a sort of frontend.
Punk is just defiance against establishment. It can be corporate, governmental, military or something else entirely
I really liked logseq but it is staggeringly heavy for a fancy note taking app, uses some wierd markup and the forced bullets are restrictive.
But I really liked its structure, much simpler than things like anytype, but just as powerful.
Huh, looks interesting, I gotta read more about this. Like the modularity of it
All owned by microsoft right?
Github is not a two sided market, enshittification does not apply. They make all their money from users.
I’m assuming that would requiring using caldav or whatever, thus no more encryption
I don’t see any desktop app on their site
Just checked their gh, it’s an electron app :(
Oh come on, I was just about to move my calendar there from outlook
Anyone know of another privacy friendly calendar that has a nice and lightweight desktop app?
