The Canadian Climate Institute has released a report that explains how to unlock lower-cost heating and cooling in Canada. It outlines barriers to adoption and makes recommendations to streamline the loan and grant application process.
This should have been a code requirement 20 years ago.
I just moved to BC and replacing my baseboard heaters (no cooling) with ductless split heat pumps is on my project list for next year.
We upgraded our furnace ahead of schedule because we kept having problems with the A/C. Our heating/cooling costs dropped by 55% over the following year. Moving the heat around is 4x more efficient than resistive heating.
Did a complete furnace and ac install about 2 years ago. Couldn’t find anyone who would sell me a heat pump, constantly given the high cost emergency heat speech even with that place being in the very moderate GVA
I had the same experience. It took a whole summer of searching to find a company that would do it.
