“but said she was barely able to stand because of how intoxicated she was.” - a direct quote from the 16 year old girl
There’s a full video, it doesn’t look like an issue to me. She was clearly trying to resist getting moved to the vehicle, and they brought her over there by force. The police say she punched one of them inside the house, which is why they tried to arrest her. There are probably witnesses to that one way or another and it will all get sorted out.
Picking them up is generally considered even worse than dragging.
This wasnt a motion to change the base system, only some slight adjustments to improve access.
“I think we should protect children and their ability to make adult decisions when they’re adults” - PP
We have children/parents/doctors make all sorts of important adult decisions regarding children all the time, why is this any different. Everything from deciding on whether to amputate after an accident to putting them on amphetamines to treat ADHD is fine, but for some reason gender affirming medication is different?
Put some checks in to make sure it doesn’t get misused/abused, then leave people alone with their personal choices. -Me
I’m glad someone put out the cone.
Other countries have mental health crisises as well. I can’t name a single first world country that has enough mental health support available to everyone. It’s very very difficult given that most people won’t even talk about their problems.
Maid is cheap, but my argument has nothing to do with that. Maid is a personal choice, and I think everyone deserves that right.
Wanting a better life is not a crime.
Unless you’re a first nations person, you are descended from an illegal immigrant.
Yet they aren’t going to offer significantly better treatment, so if that’s not an option, why shouldn’t MAID be?
It’s not like hiring 10% more specialists will fix this, the volume of people needing help is way higher than that. You can yell all you want about wanting better treatment, the rest of us want to be realistic given the resources available. We probably need 500% more specialists, and there’s simply no way to train or pay that many people.
The only way this problem gets solved is if we manage to create an AI that can successfully treat millions of people at the same time. It will likely happen at some point, but that point is not today, or even this decade likely. Until then, I’d like people to have options to retain their dignity.
Because it isn’t considerable resources that we spend on MAID, and it’s not the same resources either. Some people with extreme mental illness need to talk to a mental health specialist daily for months or years.
MAID takes a handful of meetings, then a pill.
Ah yes, keep the suffering as high as possible for some people in order to put pressure on fixing the system.
That isn’t cruel at all.
Instead, we should force them to keep suffering until we fix the supports.
Great idea.
The UK is not our best option for that, our primary exports to the US are Petroleum and Cars/Car Parts, along with a ton of other raw exports. The UK doesn’t want that stuff from us because they aren’t a refiner/processor anymore. Even if they were, we aren’t going to be shipping fossil fuels there, because we don’t have a way to get it all the way across the country for a reasonable price. Similarly logging trees in BC and shipping wood products to them simply doesn’t make sense logistically. We may be able to foist some food off on them from the prairies, but that’s about it from a goods perspective.
We need to increase our trade with Japan, South Korea, Australia, India(unfortunately), along with the developing nations in Southeast Asia.
We import even less from the UK than we export to them.
Also, lack of a free trade agreement doesn’t mean we can’t trade with them at all, most of that trade will continue completely fine. It just means that on either side there can be additional tariffs on specific items if the country decides to do that.
The UK makes up around 2.5% of Canada’s trade exports, and strangely enough, more than half of that is us exporting Gold to them… about 7.5 Billion dollars worth in 2021
I think we’ll be okay without a formal free trade agreement.
There are far worse “moral” issue going on in the world right now that we don’t give a shit about.
Why is this conflict special?
China is busy actually killing off an entire ethnicity and everyone has forgotten about them.
You have no idea what the disease would look like then…
Proper wars and genocides aren’t measured in 10s of thousands of deaths.

‘Must’?
No we musn’t
It may be a popular idea for civilians, but we support Israel for geopolitical reasons, not just to be friendly.
