I didn’t state that “logic”. Per default I assume that everybody understands that we are talking about everything in moderation. Also I specifically stated some boundaries in my original statement, ensuring the mental safety of children during exposure to manipulative ads.

I assume no parent in their right mind would push their child off a cliff to make them stronger. But parent let their kids test their physical limits by providing them with a safe environment (e.g. playground or backyard) and adult supervision.

When somebody states “stay hydrated” it is not only pedantic, but also somewhat schizophrenic to reply with “By that definition we should all constantly keep drinking, but too much water too quickly will cause you to die, so your logic of staying hydrated is wrong.”

But in the real world, it ain’t gonna happen, so you have to do your best to make your children capable of functioning in their own interest in a mentally hostile environment.

How will they learn to healthily deal with it, if you don’t subject them to it in a controlled and safe environment?

At the radiology clinic where my dad worked, they had a trial with image recognition trained on detecting stuff in MRI images. The AI would draw a red cirlce around every suspicious place it detected.

What they noticed is that the doctors started to only look at the red cirlces and would miss a lot more of the non-obvious nuances. Which resulted in more completely wrong diagnosis and a lower diagnosis quality overall.

So I doubt that it will fix stupid for now. Even if it is implemented as a sanity check review, after the doctor has done his work, they might get more sloppy when relying on the AI check to catch their oversight.

Afaik the best way to improve quality of a doctors work is longer education and more worktime per patient. Or more rigorous processes where multiple doctors have to give their independent analysis on any patient. But any of that is too expensive for profit oriented commercial clinics.

Sadly it is more economically viable to diagnose as quickly as possible, let some patients die due to errors and fight a lawsuit, then to employ twice as many highly skilled doctors.

This example clearly illustrates the totally opposite interpreted meaning.

But in the case of the comment we are discussing, disclosing the sarcasm makes no difference to either side of the conversation (the sender and the readers)

Before njalla, I tried domain.com and I couldn’t get the domain in 2 days after ordering it, so I cancelled. (they wrote an email saying that they are reviewing my order and will get back to me in 24h, which they didn’t).

I just want to pay and get a domain without the hoops and without giving them my personal address and phone number.

I had a great experience with the service so far, no hoops to jump through, no obfuscated pricing, no personal data.

Their VPN and Server options are very pricey, but the domain prices are great.

I may have misunderstood your question. If you are looking specifically for a top level domain, I think .org is a decent one, as it is hosted by a non profit organization (even though there were some sellout debates in 2020)

I did that and:

1. The only file that is correct is only of the regular version, so there are a lot of variations missing - you wouldn’t be able to get the same files as by following the paid way. The upload is 8 years old and seems to be part of an opensource website.

2. There is another upload from 4 years ago, where the files appear to be called by the same name, but it’s not the same font at all. Seems to be part of a website again, which shows a couple of fonts for comparison. Maybe they’ve put it there as a placeholder.

Thats why I wanted to ask how to safely upload them.

But I’ve read https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/typography/opentype/spec/dsig and to me it sounds like your OS for example (or any other software) could attempt to verify the validity of the DSIG of a font. If it works similarly to other types of signing, the certificate authority, in this case the creator of the font, could declare a font signed with a specific key invalid and your OS e.g. would then prohibit you from installing it.

But I may be completely wrong here. Maybe nobody is bothering with it, but since we live in DRM hell, I wnated to ask to make sure.

xpipe might really be perfect for you then.

I use it to manage all my machines, vms, docker containers etc. which I would usually ssh into.
