I agree with this 100%. It would also help with QOL since I won’t need to follow a bunch of the same communities spread out over numerous instances.

I tried this out on my mastodon account and it worked really well. Honestly, if browsing communities on Mastodon wasn’t such a nightmare I wouldn’t even need the Lemmy account.
I actually like the idea of just shouting my thoughts into the void. It’s probably why I feel it’s easier to post on Mastodon then on Lemmy.
I was a little upset when I noticed some people started following me.
I’m curious about this too. I thought that’s what Goodreads was for, tracking your books.
It’s not necessary. OP is most likely testing the various apps to see which one he prefers.

I’m assuming they’re referring to the recent post about how Lemmy stores your upvote/downvote history in databases accessible to all instance owners and not just the owner of the instance your account is on.
I kinda wish they would also hide the upvote/downvote numbers as well. Completely remove all the visible numbers that could potentially be used to “keep score”. Posts and comments shouldn’t be about who’s winning.
I just created an account there and when it came time to add books, a whole bunch of books I read didn’t even show up. I’ll have to look more into it when I have more time.
