When your bank tells you that the code booklet will be phased out and mobile app will be the only way in the future.
Who reads this anyway? Nobody, that’s who. I could write just about anything here, and it wouldn’t make a difference. As a matter of fact, I’m kinda curious to find or how much text can you dump in here. If you’re like really verbose, you could go on and on about any pointless .….[no more than this]

A friend of mine once had fancy thin Fujitsu computer with all sorts of non-standard shenanigans. Upgrading anything other than the HDD (yes, it was many many years ago) and RAM was a complete nightmare. In the end, it was easier to sell the whole thing and spend to money + some extra on a better computer.
Check if any of your favorite channels are on Nebula. If so, maybe there are other channels worth watching.
When I realized that, I’ve severely reduced my YouTube time. Actually, now it’s split among Nebula, Odsee, YT etc.
There is another reason: It’s the least bad option for some people.
The business model of Google dictates, that you are the product if you use vanilla Android or whatever it is Samsung slaps on top of it. If you go with a custom image, such as LineageOS, you do get more freedom, but there are also compromises. If you choose to not install GAPPS, you get plenty of privacy too, but the compromises are getting pretty severe at that point. Realistically, using a phone like that isn’t for everyone.
If it was still 2010, and the world around me didn’t require certain applications, I would probably be going full on FOSS with my phone. Sadly, we don’t live in that world any more.
It’s a lot like email really. If the 14 MB of storage hotmail once offered wasn’t enough for you, switching to the 1 GB of Gmail may have seemed appealing. If Google seems a bit too creepy for you, consider switching to proton or something.
If the admins of your current instance don’t like your cat memes, feel free to move to another one where cats and dogs are equally appreciated.
The rules didn’t specify that the animal was supposed to be real. Fictional animals are still animals, so they should be fine.
Oh, yeah those motivational quotes that sound great as long as you don’t think about them any longer that 2 seconds. By the time you get to the fourth second, the perceived wisdom of the quote is already on fire and about to fall apart and crumble into million pieces.
“Don’t stop when you’re tired. Stop when you’re done.”
And then you suddenly remember that friend who got severe burnout…
Image generating AIs are exceptionally good at pulling mutated horrors from the depths of Hell. I wonder what’s the equivalent job of an LLM such as GPT4. Writing business books?
Nah, foget about Lemmy. The name isn’t edgy enough. Just think about Discord, Squabble, Insultr, TauntTornado, FuryFurnace or FistFight.
Totally remember the lack of apps. Initially, I just had to use Lemmy through a mobile browser. Lots of devs were working hard to publish their apps, and after a few months we had lots of options. That was just amazing how quickly it happened.
BTW shout out to Bean, my favorite Lemmy client. It’s not perfect, so in some cases I still use Voyager to fill in the gaps, so bonus points for Voyager too.
The longer you look, the worse it gets.
Nevertheless, this is an achievement worthy of an upvote.
I don’t think I had any initial beliefs that I could have reinforced by paying attention to certain kinds of posts and people. It feels like I tend to notice the stuff I’m not into. That’s the bias I’m interested in.
However, after making that first observation, confirmation bias can certainly take it from there and inflate the number of LGBT+ people in my head.

Twitter was designed to be addictive, whereas Mastodon was specifically designed to not be addictive. That’s why scrolling Mastodon feels so boring after a while.
Strange, I feel like more than half of the people on Mastodon are openly LGBT+.
Is there a name for this psychological bias that makes me see all the LGBT stuff whereas OP sees all the Linux stuff?
You can tell this guy lifts 100 kg rice bags al day, every day.
I strongly agree with this comment. To show my appreciation, you have my upvote. Had I only agreed a little bit, I might have not voted at all. If that comment had made me angry, I might have downvoted.
Actually calling these things votes instead of likes makes a lot of sense. I might not like a comment, but I might want it to be higher. I might not hate another comment, but I might want it to be lower because of other reasons.
