Oh, they don’t pay the peer reviewers. That would cut their profit margins waaaay too much.

Weirdly enough, that wouldn’t come across as a rape joke. I know, it makes no sense.
Oh, you’re a troll. Fuck off.
In the context of eating spicy food, it is fine.
In the context of law enforcement, it is 100% a rape joke.
I’m not sure if English is your first language (if not, you write it very well). Direct translations can cause all sorts of misunderstandings. For a native English speaker, that is a rape joke.
Please don’t make rape ‘jokes’. I’m not a bloke but it’d be no more acceptable if I was.
It’s because the UK system is a mess
That’s true enough. But I actually did read the article. Even if we had the best system imaginable, it would not be legally possible to obtain EU data for civil offences. And that law must work both ways, so I’m pretty sure I could get away with committing non-criminal driving offences in the EU because they can’t legally access our data to track me down.
Shocking behaviour, bury them, etc etc.
But …
Does this mean I can park anywhere I like in the EU (in a UK-registered car) and they can’t touch me?
I don’t know anything about the technical side of this. But I would (possibly naively) think that it would be simpler to have a filter that you could automatically apply to sift bog-standard search engine results for Fediverse instances? Like adding “site:uk” to the end of a normal search, except that your filter term would check a list of Fediverse instances to return the relevant results.
And make it an app/add-on so that people can use it with their usual search strategies.
One theory goes that the decline began in the mid-90s, when the government started its efforts to make Deutsche Bahn fit for sale.
Yep, that’ll do it.
Yes. And they had letters grouped with the numbers because 26+ keys is a lot to fit on a small but still usable keyboard (or dial, originally).
I don’t think that’s why, not least because this is a recent discovery. The reason is, presumably, because 26+ keys are difficult to fit on a small but still usable keyboard.
Because they want the content that only a huge platform can provide.
You don’t. That’s fine. The beauty of the Fediverse is you can choose an instance whose policies you like. You do not have to demand that everyone else has exactly the same preferences as you do.
Increases in life expectancy accrue primarily to the better off. Whose longer retirements are being paid for by robbing the poorest of any retirement at all.
Tax the fucking rich.
