Oh their model is 100% taken from public repositories. I doubt they bothered to even filter it out to open source/fair use code.

I’m aware. I looked into it regarding your source code being used to train their ML. I looked over the FAQ and got the “Your code is your own.” vibe. Sadly it does point to their standard Privacy statement that could change anytime and allow them to do what they want.
Will my private code be shared with other users?
No. We follow responsible practices in accordance with our Privacy Statement to ensure that your code snippets will not be used as suggested code for other users of GitHub Copilot.

Maybe use a VOiP for verification?
Check out github copilot
Not free. But it’s cheap paid and supposedly privatey focused.
“If you’re not paying for a product, you are the product.” Shame usually it’s both!
Mihon is the successor
Yeah. One reason I want to get new sticks is to take my mini pc to set it as my services host to learn.
Things like pihole, home automation server and jellyfish. I would add to the list over time. Maintain config documentation.
I have two pi4s but I’m looking at orange pi for the full hdmi. I’d rather keep the raspi for headless stuff like for my 3d printer.
ButPut a different launcher on it and don’t see the ads
Is this even still possible since they did that stupid force prompt to pick a profile on wake? I’ve started to hate it since then.
Yeah LineageOS seems like a fantastic option to run on a SBC. Setup F-Droid on it with an autolauncher and you’re good. I’m learning a ton just from these answers and it’s fantastic. Appreciate the feedback.
The fire sticks I currently own are a few generations old. I have to unplug and replug two of them in to even use them. Initially I was hoping for a new $20-$40 device I wouldn’t have to spend several hours tinkering with to get it to play nicely. (Time is money after all)
But after the assistance from the other lemmings I’ve decided to try and work with the fire sticks I currently have just for the experience.
Once that fails I would purchase an ONN to replace my fire sticks and setup linux on a mini pc for my living room. Mini PC is already in place. Just need to learn more Linux. I might distro hop around.
This is my current setup actually. What annoys me is audio stops working when the device goes to sleep. I need to tinker with it. Running an HP slim prodesk
Yeah I’m running a mini PC right now, but it’s hard to deal with for wall mounting and setting up family members with one. I love refurbished slim desktops. Both Dell and HP slims have great usability and the market is saturated with them.
And YES. In about a year there will be pallets of mini PCs due to Windows 10 exodus. Business may or may not care to upgrade, but time will tell.
ONN from walmart seems to be the cheapest new device. With a Pi i would need an enclosure, cable and remote. They both would need work to either setup or debloat.
Yeah it’s a balance between privacy/performance/time. When I say I don’t want a mainstream device. It’s I don’t want mainstream bloat on my device. These things never age well and they become unusable with all the bloat. My best path might be getting a regular device and either flashing the OS or debloating.
Got any links to guides? This sounds like a nice intro device.
A quick search got me this using your keywords.
I’m aware. I can do it right now with the fire sticks. But they run the crap, loaded with ADs, Kodi crashes and it’s amazon branded. I’ve been looking for replacements. Currently looking at ONN from walmart for a cheap solution or a orange pi 3 for a nicer small solution. After that I’d do a tiny pc.
I’m aware. A network adblocker is on my todo list for sure.
Orange Pi 3B is looking REALLY GOOD. Full HDMI and SD / eMMC / M2 (sata3) slots!
Orange Pi 3B 4GB RAM Rockchip RK3566 Mini PC Quad-Core 64-bit WiFi+BLE Gigabit Run Android Linux OpenHarmony OS SBC Single Board https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805733558464.html
Basically auto power on after restore power.
Meaning if you get unplugged (or power outage) turn back on like any other networking gear.
