By loaded I meant with servers full, don’t know if it came across correctly. 😅 They’re smaller than lemmy.world though

I hope they’re accepting new members, last I knew about it they were already very loaded with new users.
sigh Based Lemmy devs having yet another big W. Wish my instance did the same
With all due respect, you (and your account) sound too much like astroturf material. The primary business of Meta is influencing public opinion, and that’s the biggest danger it poses to any group.
If you’d like to invite the company that has collaborated with Rohingya’s genocide, feel free to do so. I’d never be able to do so and sleep well at night.
I won’t further engage past this comment our of respect for my own time and for your ability to comprehend my points.
But it can be a replacement with original content. Even if they have the same topics, it’s beneficial to let each community grow their own culture.
Meta’s biggest business has been the manipulation of public opinion for years now. Their entry in the Fediverse is just their latest attempt at keep doing it. Privacy invasion and targeted ads are just tools that enable it for the former, and finance it for the later.
Eugen is either naive or is in cohorts with Meta. As a tech worker, I know firsthand how foolish can techbros be. He.probably thinks he can “negotiate an advantageous position” with Meta.
Bravo. This goes straight to the main goal of Meta: they want us exposed to their manipulation, their astroturfed content and their psychological traps. They want our attention to their content, and the best defense we can have is negating them from having any of it.
They have other ways to gain aside from data collection. Manipulation of public opinion is another possibility.
My main concern isn’t even about privacy, but being exposed to Meta “curated” content. They’ll definitely use the platform to misinform and manipulate public opinion.
Yup, my main concern is being fed stuff Meta wants us to see so they can misinform and manipulate public opinion. I want to never interact with Meta again.
The Wikipedia foundation could be a good player in the fediverse, but they don’t seem too proactive in integrating with us right now.
Lots of devs are foolish/naive, Eugen is just one of many to fit this bill.
Same here. Gotta listen to them again
“Someone new” moving in is very different from “monopolistic mega corporation who have intentionally acted to harm users, invade privacy and spread misinformation” moving in.
Big corporations staying out of the Fediverse is the best outcome.
“Boo hoo tankies bad, but big corpo run by billionaires who spread misinformation and intentionally act to topple legitimate governments in favor of their fascist agenda are akshually good”
Arguing with people like you (corporate shill) is a waste of time, so I’d rather have fun instead.
It is indeed amazing! Hello from lemmy.world o/
Mostly Jerboa, but also Thunder and LiftOff. All of them function nicely.
Nick from The Linux Experiment is there, nice surprise! Gonna give it a try, the videos I saw on the front page seem cool.
Uh… Eerily accurate.
