Toss Linux Mint on a bootable USB, fire up a live version and play around a bit. I was in the same boat and am working on fully transitioning over. The only minor hurdles are Office 365 and other Windows-only programs, but there are ways to get those to work, or just run a Windows VM.

There’s likely substantial infrastructure upgrades needed to provide this power, and, as the article says, very little economic benefit to the community and is very much the opposite of energy conservation.

Saskatchewan having being run by conservative dolts for a number of years, at least we’ve been able to keep our crown corporations. We enjoy some of the lowest prices in the country for mobile plans and auto insurance. Power and natural gas are quite reasonable as well.
Whoda thunk that when you remove the drive for profit, a business can be both sustainable and beneficial to the people, in that they are both customers and owners.
I use Docker LXCs. Really just a Debian LXC with Docker and then Portainer as a UI. I have separate LXCs for common services. Arrs on one LXC, Nextcloud, Immich and SearXNG on another, Invidious on a third. I just separate them so I don’t need to kill all services if I need to restart or take down the LXC for whatever reason.

For ease of setup and use, I’ve found Twingate to be great for outside access to my network.
Yes, it’s a lot of words, but there’s really nothing to keep track of after setup. I just go to my invidious ip rather than youtube.com and it works. There are very good tutorials available if you want to implement these solutions. That’d be a good first step rather than the ‘I’ve tried nothing and am all out of ideas’ approach.
In hosting invidious or what? I’ve got it running pretty maintenance free in a docker LXC in Proxmox and use Twingate for access to it and everything else outside my home network. There was a learning curve to set up, but there’s plenty of yt tutorials to guide you through.
In this case, the someone else is Alphabet megacorp. I wouldn’t waste any concern on them. The content is still hosted by YouTube, just played through the invidious instance.
To do away with all those concerns, you could self-host invidious, or donate to the instance you choose to use if self-hosting is outside of your technical prowess. If you want to support certain creators, donate to them directly instead.
It’s definitely not. However, I’d bet many people would use those types of services if they were widely available, easy to access, and were offered with respect rather than judgment. No one wants to be poor, or homeless, or imprisoned. Sure, there will be a few who refuse assistance, but not providing the services in the first place force many people to a point of desperation.
Not simply the legal system. With a system designed solely for incarceration rather than rehabilitation, and with little support upon release, it’s no wonder those people reoffend.
It’s essentially, “Let’s imprison this person for a fixed amount of time because of something they did. Then, let’s release that person, now with even fewer resources, right back into the circumstances that lead them to commit the first crime and act surprised when they do it again.”
Perhaps because many crime issues are actually healthcare issues and police are not adequately equipped to aid in the reduction of those.

I like Boost too. And it’s only a one-time payment for ad-free too, unlike Sync.
Invidious and Newpipe do have watch next recommendations that aren’t only subscribed channels, so there’s a bit of discovery there, but no recommended type page where it aggregates those listings. As others have said, that would require tracking algorithms.
I think it’s a great system too. It’s pretty simple and offers pretty decent discounts for safe driving. One other good feature is that the fees for demerit points are charged immediately, so it’s another reminder of ‘I should not do that’ soon after the event happens rather than delaying until the next renewal.
Hmm, seems like residents of Ottawa should sue this guy under those same pretenses.
