This was a tough read. In a supposedly affirming article, why would you mention the 88% detransition success rate multiple times when you’re going to bury the fact that the study has methodological flaws at the very bottom of the article in tiny footnotes?

Do trans people not face enough systemic barriers?

  • I live next to one such clinic in a huge city. It sure beats having neighbours OD in your backyard or shoot up on the sidewalk. There was a small vocal minority worried about their law and order who tried to shut down the site, and hundreds of neighbours showed up to tell them to pound sand.

Safe supply is healthcare. The people accessing safe supply and safe injection sites are much more likely to be getting help.

  • 2 decades ago, I was working in city summer camps. Every time there was a smog alert, we had to keep all the kids inside. Every time there was a heat alert, they weren’t allowed to run around.

So on the glorious days with heat and smog alerts, you’re supposed to somehow plan fun for 10-15 kids from 9-4 without running or going outside. There were not enough classrooms to keep all the kids in arts and crafts. Also, no running in the gym. Do this for days in a row.

    I don’t miss that job.
