Fun fact: Built my own custom keyboard, which sometimes doesn’t work and hangs, but hey… it still adds to the charm, right 😂
may I ask why you’d prefer setting things up manually without docker?
Imho, copy & pasting a provided docker-compose is much simpler.
yes, playback might work, but it will fall back to HDR10 or even SDR, since not all metadata is passed through.
So to fully take advantage of hdr10+, dolby vision, 5.1, atmos, and what not… each device in the chain, from the source to the output, and the hdmi cable, have to fully support it.
https://r-htpc.github.io/wiki/faq#what-is-hdr-video-and-what-do-i-need-to-take-advantage-of-it
DOLBY VISION AND HDR10+ MEDIA PASSTHROUGH IS NOT SUPPORTED ON HTPCS; If you need support for these, you’ll need a media device/non-PC, like a Nvidia Shield, Fire TV, Dune HD, etc…
I did learn a lot about my consumption, and believe me when I say, that I wish my options were broader. But it is how it is. And most of the content I watch is in HDR10+ or DV.
But yeah, everyone’s milage may vary.
yeah, but does it do HDR? I suppose not.
I would love to use my own setup of hardware/software, but it’s simply not possible without making sacrifices
alright, what’s a 4k hdr alternative then, that supports hdr and dolby vision?
No, it connected to your wifi and downloaded it.
I know thst, but when and how did it get the wifi info.
Did they automatically flash that onto the device, sealed the box packaged it and delivered it - all within 24hrs.
yes I did order it with my Amazon account
However, as appreciative as I am for making my setup process easier, I’m also not happy with the fact, that some random dude had access to my device prior to me.
Who says he’s not part of some weird group installing miners or bots onto my device causing it to slow down over time?
preaming
Ooooh…wait… by streaming you mean netflix, etc…
Can we please invent a word for streaming pirated content?
or… we just need more FOSS alternatives to the car manufacturers proprietary OS.
I already see GH issues like: “breaks stop working when going above 200mph.”
Hell, I even pay for a service that has all the magnet links resolved and ready to stream, no downloading involved. For 30 bucks (a year!) it’s been the most convenient way of enjoying movies & shows.
Did they forget to track the google maps history? someone should submit a PR
Sure… here’s mine…
🖕.💩.🍆.🍑
“PornHub pulls out” 🙊
I saw some github issue where someone reported the same.
Trigkey S5 with AMD 5700U and 24GB ram. As I said, it is still slow, even after indexing has finished.
I’d really love to use it. Tested Photoprism, but the mobile app lacks almost everything immich offers.
you should really take some time and learn it. It’s a godsend.
It is great, but the mobile app becomes slow AF when I import all my google photos which are thousands of them. Even after indexing has finished.
Edit: Scratch what I said! Just gave Immich another shot, and the slow mobile app was due to the initial background sync running.
Yeah, I checked the status dasboard, mastodon and even the announcements, but nothing has been posted there. That’s why I was a bit concerned.
Thx for the clarification 👍
I already did the most common thing that’s done in the open source community… I raised an issue
that’s true. Docker images indeed take up more space, especially if you don’t prune old unused images, it can quickly pile up.
to mitigate that, always go with the alpine-version of a service (if it’s available) since these are much smaller in size and are barely noticable.
