Bots are necessary. But having moderation bots and other useful ones like the one for reminders is one thing, and another one is bots posting spam 100 times a day.

I hear you! You and me both, I’ve always been more of a lurker on almost every social media. However here I feel more comfortable posting than anywhere else because I know people aren’t here just to troll, gain followers through controversy or self-promote, so it feels way better.

That makes no sense to them, for them you are only as valuable as the data they can extract from you and the ads they can show you. So I do believe their end goal is to take your privacy away

I wouldn’t want to use an instance that shows me Meta content, even if that’s where the majority of content is, and I don’t think I’m alone in that.

I am here because I value quality over quantity.

I respect that, however I don’t hate no one, I hate the content on Meta’s platforms. And I’d hate to see it make it’s way to this platform.

A free, open-source, privacy-conscious, human-moderated platform with great usability and easily accessible sounds beautiful. Also, sounds decades away and probably utopic, given the amount of time and resources needed to make all that possible. And when you start focusing on just getting funding to keep growing, well, you end up being Meta.

nobody is trying to run anything out of business, that’d be foolish. The goal is preventing them from ruining every other community once they inevitably gain control of it all
