Problem is that you smoke more than you think, and you’re not as much in controle as you think, and it does yourself more harm, both physically and mentally, than you think.

Hard disagree on your take on cigarettes. Someone who smoke at a party every few weeks will get to smoke two packs a day in a few years. The addiction on cigarettes is extreme. I’ve never seen anyone smoking a little and staying that way.

IMO federating is a good move to steal users from it. There is no user to steal for meta, people here are here because they fled the other platforms. Meta users though are unaware of this other world, and they can easily be brought in if they can discover it.

Yet people on lemmy are very hard fighting tankies where ever they can find them, even baiting with anti-tankie memes on a very regular basis.

Tankies are not treated like fascists. There is a war waged against them on lemmy eventhough tankies don’t exist in the west.

So here we are, with western people on the hunt against tankies. To me they are fascists waging a cultural war on social media.

In my country we have antifa for antifascists. Are you here some kind of anti-tankies? Because I see far, far more posts about antitankies fighting supposed tankies than I see people fighting fascists.

The nature of a social network is to become big enough to attract most people or to stay a niche community.

But the process takes time. Right now the niche expanded significantly, but didn’t reach the critical mass yet.

How the dynamic happens though is still mysterious. Accessibility is the first and most important feature though. Then, you need to keep up with the time and innovations, but it might be hard to see.

IMO the focus should be accessibility. Which will become difficult because elitist asshats are already fighting against growing the community, and accessibility is the easiest place for gatekeeping.
