  • I think you need to consider it to be ultimately universal as a goal healthcare, as I worry you’re predisposed to consider any delay to be an abject failure and grounds for dismantling; see: healthcare.

It’s a big project for a number of people, so it needs to follow a priority awareness. You may not be in the first group supported, and that needs to be okay. Triage rules always apply, and it’s a great problem to have if you don’t get seen first.

  • I’m not sure what you’re on about. For me, reddit is “that thing that shows up in searches where I get the cached page” and not part of my life at all.

I didn’t even bother to delete my posts. Fuck 'em. Let the bot be trained on me correcting halfwits who don’t know e-mail isn’t pluralized with an S or trying to get people to grow up about development and security. It seems the only thing their bots will get from me is better spelling and a aversion to flatpak.

If you wanna go on reddit and recommend a single Lemmy discussion as the answer to their problem, then do it. It’s like linking to a stackOverflow answer. Maybe they’ll stay once they find out it’s different here. Cool.

I’m okay with it not being a movement. I’m glad I left reddit, like I was glad to leave its predecessors for reddit. I can hope for a long existence on the fediverse. Maybe we can be a good place for people to go and not try Tom think for them, okay? We know we’re right and we came to that conclusion oirselves, so let others do the same.

I’ll probably feel differently about it in a month, but right now this is like paddling against the tide.

  • I think it’s been well-understood from the outset that the project would only be a tool for Albertan oil companies to sell bitumen internationally and not be a tool to help alberta, the environment, canada … or, really, anyone other than oil company CEOs. Getting the Conservatives to pressure Justin into buying this ridiculous climate disaster waiting to happen regularly was a massive coup; and maybe it’ll mean bigger campaign donations for Conservatives, but maybe not. The nature of fairweather friends is they tend to attract their own fairweather friends.

  • I have a family doctor. I put myself on a waiting list and got one.

    Then he quit.

Then a doctor took over for him and I hate this guy.

What kinda snowflake am I, right? But I go in because I want to talk to him about xyz and he doesn’t address it at all. Every 4 months it’s another fucking test for ancillary shit and I still need something fixed.

Are they trying to wait my middle-aged ass out? Like maybe I’ll randomly get a bigger problem so they don’t have to schedule an ER for a 35-min procedure?

Checkmate, bitch. I’m moving across the street from the hospital, across the street and down from the lab and a block away from the doc’s office. I’ll do all the tests and X-rays and shit until I wait YOU out. I’ll do appointments every day.
