I didn’t bother applying, mostly because I don’t look for contant stream of media, and the fact I would then need to managage my seed ratio.
Not interested in all that, plus I’m very limited on storage, and not can’t upgrade it cause it’s too expensive here either way.
Usenet is just better for my usecase.
I moved to usenet, seted up a few good indexers and providers and the experience is 1000x better and easier than trying to get into any kind of private trackers.
Update: I have ended up with hosting a sharkey instance, mostly because of it’s very active development and nice ui. ( No way it was cause of the shark costumed waifu )
Tnx for recommendation, if I knew of it before I seted up my lemmy server I would hop on it right away. But since I already have lemmy for “communities” I would like for something that’s more microbloging specific.
I could migrate to it but it would get annoying for a couple friends that already use my lemmy instance.
EDIT: I might self hostcit to try it and see how wellcit work’s tho.
You could try using ssh reverse proxy and proxy the port to the vps.
Another way is to setup wireguard on the vps, connect the powerfull machine to it and keep it always connected there. ( This isn’t really a good options since then all traffic is moved thrkught the vps )
There is also grok I think that’s the name.
In general I think ssh reverse port proxy would be a decent way and then you can use a reverse proxy on the vps like nginx or caddy ( you need one that works on the host network )
I have made sure my gcc is updated. Could just be a problem when cleaning old gcc stayed instead of the new one.
Had that happen to me with the kernel.
How did you fix the gcc version to old while compiling hyprland? I have been trying to install it for the last month but couldnt cause of that error on gentoo.
Yea, evem rn on the server I have about 13? or so domains, and still haven’t migrated all my services over.
Hi already tried that, worked for one domain and then stopped working for every other domain.
Update: I have moved to caddy, planned a switch either way and this just pushed me to do it.
Nice ui, and I already have a vps there. My main dns provider is namecheap but made it use vultr under the hood because of the nice ui.
Certbot has no support for vultr dns, not even with plugins. Already check.
Do you have it on host or container. I’m thinking abour switching to caddy on my host and replacing nginx with it but just wan’t to hear your experience with it.
Requires me to add cname record’s, which beats the purpose of automation honestly. Will most likelly move to caddy.
I’m open to using sothing like caddy or traefic, but my issue is I have a mix of packages hosted directly on system and in docker container’s and as such need to proxy them all.
That’s why I’m not using caddy or traefic.
Edit: rn my mix consists of about 16 diff containeraized stuff and another 4-5 not containerized stuff.
Edit2: Just now realized that they can be used on the host system’s also. Would you recommend traefic or caddy?
Yea I’m using let’s encrypt. Juet wanted to hear opinions from people who are probably more experienced than me.
UPDATE: In the end I got a hetzner dedicated server and the performance is a lot better than a vps could ever be with similar specs and am loving the experience.
I have already went ahead and bought a hetzner dedicated box, I just couldn’t find a similar performance dedicated box on any other provider’s for what hetzner provided at this moment and I really needed one now.
i don’t have history either man. Every private tracker I tried applying to wanted atleast proof of good seed ration from 2 other private trackers also. Which I don’t have I never tou hed private trackers before.
And either way I don’t have disk space to keep torrent’s around to build up the ratio. ( I have 100gb free for movies/tv shows ).
