So they’re repurposing surviving pancreas cells to produce insulin like the destroyed beta cells used to, but what are they doing about the autoimmune response? Will my immune system just kill the new insulin-producing cells as well?

Comment and post edits and deletes are federated. OP probably means account deletion. Currently, if you delete your Lemmy account, it does not federate, so your old comments and posts stick around on other instances, I believe even with your old username attached.
Or a smaller instance! lemmy.ml wasn’t meant to be the main Lemmy hub, and it would help the load on the larger instances to spread users out.
Mastodon comments are pretty easy to spot because they all tag a user at the beginning of the comment. At least for the moment, anyway.
lemmy-ui 0.18.0 upgraded Bootstrap to v5, just FYI. Docs are out of date, but that’s to be expected given how much code churn is going on right now.
I’m preemptively defederating from Threads. But I’m not necessarily opposed to refederating in the future, if Meta proves benevolent. Some bigger Mastodon admins are going with a wait and see approach, but as the sole admin of a small instance, I’d rather not have to rush to defederate if shit hits the fan.
Hello from my personal instance!
I wonder why Lemmy isn’t listed as an alternative to Reddit.
The devs prefer Liberapay or OpenCollective due to their FOSS nature, but ultimately the choice is up to you. I use Liberapay, and unfortunately there are fees there, too.
You donate via the link you provided.
So, that one developer is the main developer of Lemmy, and you may be surprised to find out there are only two of them. Lemmy is open source and takes contributions from others, but its development is driven by two full time devs.
If you want to donate to development, that’s how to do it. If you want to donate to a specific instance to keep it online, then follow any donation instructions in your instance’s sidebar.
Yesterday they made higher education less accessible to non-whites, today they made it harder for the poor…
I wonder if there’s a pattern here.
My ISP says my IP is technically dynamic, but it hasn’t changed once in the 6 years I’ve had their service. But that’s for the best, since they’re the only choice for symmetrical gigabit and their only option for static IPs is for business accounts.
So I continue to trust that they won’t change it. Fingers crossed.
