You imagine the doomsctollers aren’t present here already?
Yes, because they aren’t in control of the platform. We are. We can observe and decide, and they can’t stop us. The choice here isn’t “meta or not meta”, but rather “act based upon evidence or not” - meta and their handling of their own platforms where that had absolute control is not what we have here. This is a new situation. But here’s the thing, we will see the data, regardless. Some instances will choose to not defederate immediately, and we will still all benefit from the observation.
I’m well aware and deleted my Facebook long long ago.
You’re almost as good at it as them, the way you put words in the mouths of others.
Okay, and as inevitable as that seems, how about instances wait until that happens, and THEN defederate? The preemptive defederation is disappointing to see. My home instance has done it. I’ll have to wait and see who DOESN’T defederate so I can make an alt account and see for myself what happens.

Oh shit, he’s actually around again? Last I heard he had “hung up the hat” so to speak. Perhaps that itself was a ruse!
Same. I don’t miss that, or much, but I think we can all agree on missing the genius of Shittymorph. He truly had a way of gripping you into a comment and then suddenly it’s nineteen ninety-eight again, and you finally look at the username. Truly entertained every time, was sad but understandable to see him retire.
I acknowledge that, absolutely
I’m not and alcohol can straight up kill people
Ok ok it’s not a competition. My condolences.

Go to your local library and ask if they have audiobook borrowing through Libby or a similar platform! Not only are you NOT limited on listening hours, but it’s free! You just might have to wait if all the “copies” are borrowed at the moment.
Also, if you have a cool library like I do, you might be able to borrow from multiple libraries. For example, my library card is for the St. Louis County Library, but it can also be used at the St. Charles County Library. So if I am looking for an audiobook on Libby, and SLCL has 3 virtual copies and they are all borrowed, I can search SCCL to see if they have any. I’ve had many situations where I’ll find one library or the other will have a copy available for borrowing with no wait.
