I know the EU is still kicking around the concept of making itself a root CA and each country an intermediate in that chain, then legally mandating the installation of that CA on all devices. This is dangerous as hell as it effectively defeats the purpose of TLS and gives the government(s) a way to decrypt all HTTPS traffic using those bogus cert chains.

This is especially nefarious paired with their other practices. Many phones stock ROMs also ship with preinstalled bloatware including TikTok and Facebook crap.

I had to use Android developer tools (ADB powershell commands) to remove multiple facebook and tiktok packages from a friends new phone because they can’t be removed any other way. There was no “user visible” FB app but several packages were present and makes me think FB crap may run as “background” by default on several vendors stock ROMs. Irritating and deceiving to the consumer.

I also blacklist all their domains using PiHole so nothing on my home network can covertly back channel any data to their mothership. (Currently using Developer Dan’s lists from GitHub - the Facebook list alone has almost 30,000 hosts on it)

Great proof of concept. This process alone isn’t ready for widespread use yet due to the costs of the press and chemicals.

To enhance performance I would recommend experimenting with combinations of this material and the home epoxy/tarp process that some people have shown before. If some combo of those improvised materials can be squished down to about an inch thick, it starts to become practical for a modern armor plate. With refinements I bet there is a design that can reliably stop most handgun threats. Keep in mind his final proof of concept stopped 9mm out of a carbine length barrel which is a bit spicier than out of a pistol.

Another possible idea would be to coat the final plate in rhino-lining type truckbed coating, as this may prevent the spall and wood splintering from the front of the plate, and backface deformation… Both issues that threaten the armor wearer.
