Sounds like they are saying (later this month) you can create your own Bluesky instance…but will they ever federate outside that?

Love Ice Cubes for Mastodon and Voyager for Lemmy. I’ve tried to use others besides wefwef/Voyager but after soooo many years using Apollo it just feels so comfy. Navigation, the font, the way things are organized and displayed. I’m a creature of habit. I am hoping more features are added like a solid text editor, add photos to comments, user profiles, messaging…

I probably should keep trying others and at least test them & leave good reviews so the feddiverse keeps building and apps can compete with other social medial bullshit.

Never understood what was appealing about place and will not be attempting to understand. But if it makes people happy…whatever

pixelfed is very appealing I was just a little surprised that the video I had posted elsewhere didn’t work there at all…if the file format and size are concerning I’m hesitant to go all in 🫤

Personally I am sick of reading that the feddiverse is confusing and never going to take off or never going to do this or that. Even if it’s true, which time will tell. It’s like the same article over and over. I thought your blog was just any other random article like “What is the feddiverse? Well it’s this and it’s cool but it’s overhyped”

Maybe those of us who are trying to make Lemmy, mastodon etc happen are too sensitive about it 🤷🏻‍♂️

I mean everyone here is passionate and involved. There is no parent company to fuck things up or ruin it like google or Reddit. We pay for it ourselves with donations. Why would it die?

True. Those of us on social media at the time moved from MySpace moved because it was a step up as far as keeping in touch with friends, sharing photos and links. It was uncluttered and well designed and no annoying advertising. Just worked. It’s a clusterfuck of awfulness now.

Ha I am actually still friends with people I met on G+ as well. Before Pokémon Go Niantic had a game called Ingress and we organized teams and strategized on Google+ groups and chat. I don’t know how google messed it up honestly with the way everyone with gmail had an account…you could chat and there was audio and video calling that worked pretty well. It was also very clean and modern for the time. Oh well, Alphabet.
