Sync by resilio. I use it between my computers and nas and between my computer and my vps and my nas and my vps, I also use it between my work and personal phone.

This is the way. It’s just me who watches stuff off my nas and I’m fine with vlc so I don’t use plex or jellyfin or whatever. I have an old (at this point) qnap nas that I’ve been doing the same with. Mine is a total of 40tb’ish iirc. I definitely need to get a second nas and some more drives but for now what I have is enough though I am going to run out of space soonish.
Shit dude, give me access to most things I want to watch and most of the stuff I’ve forgotten about and that’s worth $50/month as a minimum.
I’ve come full circle back to wearing an eye patch. I was using amazon, hulu, hbo and paramount, usually letting some lapse or pause to watch stuff on the other ones but they have all gone to shit. It’s impossible to find what you might be interested because just like netflix they show the same shows/movies in multiple categories and their search sucks ass plus they are all missing a ton of good shows.
Now I am slowly downloading shows from the past that I don’t already have in my library and haven’t watched in years while I keep an eye out for new shows I might be interested in. I use showrss to auto download current shows that it has in its DB to a vps and I have sync setup to mirror it to my nas so I can stream it to my TV with vlc. So much easier than opening hulu, finding the show I want to catch up on, etc.
That isn’t a life time subscription. It’s a better version of the family plan. If you read the article/blog post you would have seen that they only offer lifetime plans for charity.
I’ve been using Proton for a few years now. I’m slowly moving everything over to them and when they offered the visionary plan again last year I jumped on it despite right now it only being my wife and I using it with a 3rd account as a family email.
I would stick with namecheap (for now) and pony up for a multi year registration. If in 5 or 10 years they are jacking the price up then you can use another registrars cheap port option to get a discount. I did this recently between godaddy and namecheap. I had one domain left with godaddy that I have owned for over probably a couple of decades at this point and they were seriously jacking the rate up on me, I ported it to namecheap for a massive discount.
They aren’t looking to host a website. They are looking for domain registrars
Some people prefer the thumbnail look of plex, netflix, hulu, etc. I prefer to just scroll down to the folder of my unwatched stuff or the entire season or entire run of a show and watch it that way. Plus because it’s vlc pulling via smb from my local nas, it’s faster to stream and doesn’t need to be encoded to be played. There virtually nothing that vlc can’t play.
As for the shield. There is supposedly a new one coming at some point, I’ll probably wait until then to grab one. They are in the $200 range so no need to be quick on the draw grabbing what is aging a bit hardware wise.
Yeah. But lg is not android. Plus you can definitely run something like pihole to block that TV from talking to others. You can also look at something like the Nvidia shield, I am considering investing in one because my TV is aging a bit.
I have it auto downloading through a rss feed from showrss.info. I don’t use plex or jellyfin or the like. At one point I was running a media server on my pc but now my android TV with vlc is pulling straight from my nas. For now I am paying for a torrent friendly vps so I don’t have to worry about whether or not I leak my ip address.
Isn’t that a dns address?
This exactly. Dude/dudette has no clue how to talk/write without sounding batshit crazy.
What fight? I’ve returned to the high seas and have zero issues and am definitely not fighting anyone over it. I do pay for a vps designed for torrents so I don’t risk losing my home internet and not have to worry about making sure my vpn has no leaks.
Learn to pick your battles and you will be less stressed about everything.
I’ve never had an issue but then again I don’t use it for much more than movies and TV. If sync thing supports qnap I might check it out but I’ve been using sync since it was launched (if not soon after).
