I mainly use torrents but do have Usenet as a backup. I solely have a 4tb block also from NewsGroupDirect. I got it for like 7$ a couple years ago and am still working through it. It’ll last a while. I’ve been pretty satisfied with availability and retention, although YMMV. if I could give advice it’s that a lot of places do really good holiday/black Friday deals.
It is not a joke, as one of the most recent posts by this user uses the K slur for Jewish people. I don’t know why you’d assume it’s a joke in any case, anyway; it certainly wouldn’t be a good one…
It’s cool tech but this is a lil dramatic lol
I’ve got a homemade NAS running unRAID and my arr suite/Jellyfin/qbittorrent, and an orangepi running the orangepiOS (flavor of Ubuntu I think?) Which handles home assistant and associated containers .
*arrs / Jellyfin on a custom NAS running unRAID
For my daily driver tv, it’s an android TV with the projektivity launcher (maybe spelled that wrong, but I’m pretty sure there’s a k in there). It is a huge improvement over the stock launcher.
I’m also working on a media TV for my wife that’s actually a NUC running mint. Suboptimal distro choice but I want her to be able to use it as a desktop if she needs. On top of that is flex launcher to launch Jellyfin, YouTube, steam link, etc.
I had tried to make KDE bigscreen work but just could not get installed for the life of me.
Yeah do it there is basically no downside. I agree with others that you may have trouble with the ads in streaming services. On my android TV, YouTube ads, for instance, aren’t blocked by pihole.
Does Jellyfin save your watched history using that set-up? That’s my main hangup to using Kodi.
I did use the wireguard file from protonvpn. If it didn’t generate the folder I’d check that the variables which define which VPN you’re using and your username and password are correct.
Is it not starting or is the webUI not starting? I think there’s a common problem with the latter.
I use the same setup with the binhex qbittorrentvpn image. Was pretty painless to set up
I second this. Works great.
Yeah as someone who has gotten into Linux and DIY computer builds in the last year, I’ve been pretty sad at some deletions. Ultimately the fault is on Reddit itself but still pretty sad.
No thank you
I use a fractal design node 304. It’s pretty cool, but has all the limitations and problems you would expect from a case that size.
I think most people will tell you that there’s no need to use a VPN with Usenet. I personally do not. However, if one was to put any of the containers behind the VPN, I think that SABnzbd would be the one to do it with.
I’m not a Usenet expert so feel free to correct me.
My two cents, piracy is not necessarily more complicated than it ever was at its simplest, but the potential for enhanced automation and security is MUCH higher than it used to be. That’s the complex part.
I’m one of the lucky private tracker people. If I wasn’t in there, I’d go all in on Usenet.
