Discord is just an AOL chat room. Great for short-term conversations among 20 or fewer people. It’s not a good place to store your FAQ. It’s not a good place for large teams. It’s not a good place for anything searchable. It’s transactional. And I don’t know why people treat it otherwise.

What do you use to see the data? Prometheus itself is easy to set up, but getting to the data seemed complicated.

It’s probably best to wrap navidrome in a script that checks for the mount then.

fstab will do it, but the more important question is, what do you want to happen when it doesn’t mount properly? Do you want the system to fail to boot? Do you want navidrome to not run?

That single instance is so large because it meets the needs of many. If people care about this type of censorship, they will leave and it will shrink.

It’s about expectation setting. You can’t say “paid donators will get X” then say “actually you won’t, give us more money for X”.

It usually takes multiple mistakes for a failure this big.

It’s valid to point out when amateurs do amateur stuff, in the hopes they one day become experts.

Backup before upgrade. If you can’t, don’t be the first to upgrade. Have a test instance.

And if all of that sounds like too much, then just accept downtime as a lifestyle.
