Curious why people seem to love tiling so much. Generally I’m fine with windows being overlapped when swapping between apps/instances is so easy with alt-tabbing and such

Nah, I like seeing what other people think. It gives me the chance to try out ideas and arguments in a space with low consequences. Downvotes are instant feedback with a low barrier to entry
In what world is that a logical following of what the other person said?
Excuse me while I bookmark this like I’m ever going to put the effort into installing all of this
Oh yeah no I’m totally with you there. Think I generally like something between the two extremes tho. Something like dracula or (more recently) gruvbox
You don’t have eye strain issues with something so stark?
Python is the way to go for any newbie imo. Js has too many weird pitfalls that don’t make sense when first starting out
Sure this is technically true, but it doesn’t really fix the human need to find things. It would be better if some grouping of Fediverse instances came together under a common banner and agreed to certain protocols that helped make things like mass-indexing easier. This would enable a better frontend experience for people trying to find good content. In fact I think building more protocols on top of the existing one would be exactly inline with the philosophical underpinnings of the Fediverse
This is reel purdy, but honestly the contrast on the theme is so low idk how u could possibly read that
So much this. The signups process desperately needs to be streamlined
Who else would know about a new type of social media tech that hasn’t existed before?
imo the servers have already been having trouble from time to time. Get all kinds of weird issues. Would be very willing to see like a monthly donation goal in a sidebar or something
For anyone curious I already looked it up on glassdoor: $250~$450 a year (and obv some sort of equity)
Wish they’d list their damn salaries
