    The plan is a modern version of a Cold War-era program that would have seen members of the government move to an underground installation west of Ottawa now known as the Diefenbunker, a nod to Canada’s 13th prime minister.

    That reminds me. Isn’t the Diefenbunker a museum or something now? Did they build a modern one? Top sekrit Harbunker or something? ;)

      it was obsolete as a shelter by 1960, it’s just buried under a bunch of dirt.

      Later shelters like for NORAD in North Bay were deeper, and in hard rock. But they aren’t expected to survive a large h-bomb either, and those shelter locations are well known.
