“Xinjiang must become a ‘no-go’ as a location for economic activities for Western companies, including VW,” says Renata Alt (FDP), Chairwoman of the Bundestag’s Human Rights Committee.

The recent withdrawal of German chemical giant BASF sends a clear signal, Alt continued: “No lazy compromises can be made when it comes to human rights”. BASF’s decision to divest its shares in joint ventures in Xinjiang was therefore very welcome.

    In my long life, I have never seen a headline with the word “Volkswagen” in it that didn’t involve VW doing something deceptive or horrible.

      This has been company tradition from the very beginning. The only thing they had going for themselves was building affordable quality cars at some time in the past.
