Come to think of it there’s probably something to make sure theaters are completing the number of contractually obligated screenings too. Like a 3 person screening is probably a loss for the theater, but not revenue distributers want to lose out on.
I’ve seen very few leaks of digital prints intended to play in theaters on torrent sites. Either this DRM is unusually effective or pretty much unnecessary.
Acetaminophen doesn’t exactly have a long lasting effect. And this is 1/4 of the maximum recommended daily dose administered at once. I think if people were regularly taking enough tylenol that it has a mass societal effect we’d be seeing a lot more liver failures.
Security concerns are a part of it. The idea is that there’s an added layer of security if everyone is a friend of a friend, but obviously it’s not very practical. Generally the security is added by making sure you’re drafting from an “in”-crowd, which usually means familiarity with the content hosted and how the content is generated (like the old what.cd test) in addition to being a member in good standing in a tracker or a proven history of seeding. User limits also make the need for people to be very into the specific content type in order to make sure even the more obscure content is well seeded.
