This company should be dismantled and the people responsible should be put in jail. Also, they should be liable for any and all harm that comes from this with no limitation whatsoever.
Data Broker Sold Location Data on Visitors of 600 Planned Parenthood Facilities to an Anti-Abortion Group for Targeted Advertising
How is this legal?
And then all visitors that where there for other reasons like delivering a package, making repairs etc are now also spammed by these whackjobs.
This is the best summary I could come up with:
A pro-life group was able to specifically target visitors to nearly 600 Planned Parenthood facilities in 48 states in America with anti-abortion ads using location data from a broker called Near Intelligence, according to US Senator Ron Wyden.
The ad campaign ran from November 2019 through summer 2022, which is when the US Supreme Court issued its ruling that allowed states to criminalize abortion – Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
Near also allegedly sold US citizens’ location data to Uncle Sam – including the Pentagon, its intelligence agencies, and defense contractor AELIUS Exploitation Technologies.
“This is why House members should vote to pass the Fourth Amendment Is Not for Sale Act tomorrow when it goes to the floor,” Kia Hamadanchy, senior policy counsel at the ACLU, told The Register on Wednesday.
“EFF thanks Senator Wyden for his continued leadership in exposing the privacy and other harms of data brokers harvesting our location information and selling it to the highest bidders, including police and anti-abortion advocates,” Schwartz declared.
“Now more than ever, we need Congress and the states to ban police from buying location information from brokers, and to enact real consumer data privacy legislation.”

I honestly don’t see how this data is any worse then regular location data. I don’t support abortion but it shouldn’t have repercussions in pro abortion states. Protesting something you disagree with should not be a crime unless you are becoming violent. Someone seeking an abortion can always just ignore someone begging them not to do it just like they can ignore a salesman in a mall.
Guard you location data though. It and the rest of your data can be very dangerous in the wring hands.

Everybody goes grocery shopping, only few get abortions, and only one of these groups is getting harassed for it.

Violence has many facets. Harassment ist violence and it’s done by pro-lifers.

This is crazy. The pro-life protests are not at all comparable to a vacuum salesman.

No. I’m mostly with you. But not on this.
The “Spectrum of Violence” might include everything from lies to murder. But that’s different than what you’re doing here.
Insults, name calling, even threats, are not similar to getting physically beaten. Conflating them like this is either an insult, or at least disrespectful, to anyone who’s been hospitalized, crippled, or worse.
Just no. Don’t do that. Be more nuanced.
I’m way less concerned with what you label it than what it is. Violence, harm, abuse of private data to try controlling a minority, whatever you want to call it.
Your “opinion” lacks evidence or experience to back it up. You just have bias.
That’s just me reposting a comment of yours. sounded just as shitty when you said it too
