It’s going to be a long and dark 4 years.
What is that I hear? Increase in support for Quebec’s independence because the rest of Canada is voting conservative again?
The damage done will last decades beyond the 4 years.
I would still not panic THAT much. Like this is scary, sure. But not that scary as the election is still 1.5 years away. 1.5 years is still a very long time in terms of politics.
Agreed. Or at least I hope so. There’s plenty of time for people to become aware that inflation has decreased, pharmacare and dental care to get introduced, etc. If they’d strengthen labor too, that’ll be great.
If they do something marketable around housing and maybe smack some corpo household names a bit, that’ll be even more amazing. Love me some Galen Weston and Mirko Bibic tears. I won’t hold my breath on that one but I can dream.
Yeah, bad economic news leads people to wanting change, regardless of its rationality. If the economy and inflation turn around, things could change dramatically. Small things like rebranding the Carbon Rebate might help a lot, too. People will hopefully be a lot less accepting of PP’s plan to remove Carbon Pricing when they lose out on hundreds of dollars every quarter (and the world burns in the summer, and all the BC fruit dies in cold snaps).
The US Election might scare people away from conservatism a bit, too, depending how their descent into fascism goes… one can only hope.
🤞
Wtf is wrong with you Ontario? I thought you guys were mad at Doug Ford, and now you’re preparing to vote for crypto-Pierre?
What gave you the idea we were mad at Ford?
You could just go to the Ontario part of that site to see he’s polling at 100% chance of winning
O’Toole wasn’t perfect, but at least I felt that, if he won, I wouldn’t be ashamed of my country. I could genuinely have told myself: “well, let’s see how this goes!”
Dang, never thought I’d say that I missed a Conservative, but I indeed do miss O’Toole…
There seems be an awful lot of people saying things like this about O’Toole… Maybe if all you guys had voted for the CPC in 2021 we wouldn’t be where we are now
I don’t think they were voting for CPC in any case, their point was that at least then the CPC alternative wasn’t simply shameful.
We would be in a much worse position. The CPC hasn’t had a spare neuron to dedicate to policy since Harper stepped down.
